The logistics market in Germany is highly fragmented and is currently undergoing major change. The high proportion of empty runs, suboptimal transport performance and the associated fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions are of great significance here.

Across Germany and Europe, 22% of kilometers traveled are not carrying any freight. If we consider the proportion of journeys in Germany that are made completely empty, we even arrive at just under 40%. According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority, the unused transport capacity, i.e. taking into account tons transported and kilometers driven, is as high as 58% in Germany. This inefficient loading management results in unnecessary costs for the individual companies and the community, which add up to over 11 billion euros in Germany alone, which could be significantly reduced. In addition to the cost factor, the environment is also severely impacted. In Germany alone, for example, around 12 million tons of CO₂ are emitted unnecessarily as a result of empty runs.

FUNCTIONALITY

• A camera installed centrally in the rear part of the loading area regularly takes pictures of the loading area (two cameras are also possible as an option)
• The telematics unit sends the images via 4G network to the central LUVIS AI server
• The free cargo space is calculated on the LUVIS AI servers using a special AI algorithm and displayed on the web portal, as well as photos of the cargo space (sorted by date and time)
